Are you looking to get started on your print on demand journey but not sure how to come up with design ideas, and what tools and resources to use to get those designs?

In this article we cover several great ways to get design inspiration, and list some of the best tools and resources to bring those ideas to life.

So, if you’re ready to get inspired and start creating some winning designs, read on.

Print on demand designs:

Brainstorm & validate

This may seem obvious, but so many people just dive into existing niches that could be very competitive already.

Spend some time simply putting pen to paper, write down all the things you like to do, you’re career, you’re industry, what you’re studying, what’s your favorite foods, hobbies, places you love, what sports you play, etc.

Then think about friends and family, ask yourself the same questions about them – sports, jobs, study topic, etc., write everything down.

Get down as many ideas as you possibly can.

Once you’ve got a bunch of solid ideas and niches, you need to validate them to see if they’re actually worth pursuing.

Here’s some ways to do that:

  • Check if people are selling in that niche – if they are then that’s a good sign there’s demand
  • Check if the interest is growing via Google Trends
  • eRank – Etsy keyword volume and competition data
  • Podly.co – Amazon sales intel
  • Merch Informer – niche research
  • Manually search on POD sites & Etsy
  • Social media interest for a niche – e.g. Pinterest boards, Facebook groups, Instagram pages, etc. – if so, this is also a good sign

Once you’ve validated you chosen niche or sub-niche it’s time to get some design ideas and inspiration.

Print on demand design ideas, inspiration, and research

Before you start creating print on demand designs you’re obviously going to need to get some ideas and inspiration first.

Here are a few of the best ways to help you figure out and prioritize what designs to create:

Print on demand sites homepages

One of the easiest ways to start your journey into print on demand is to simply upload your designs to popular print on demand sites that have an existing audience that you can tap into.

Some of the top print on demand sites are:

  • Merch By Amazon
  • Redubble
  • Zazzle
  • Teepublic
  • Society6
  • Threadless

If you’re looking for ideas and inspiration for your designs, these websites are great starting point for your ideation and research.

Juna from Detour Shirts explains why…

Juna from Detour Shirts

“My biggest tip is to study the Print on Demand site you are trying to sell in. What kind of topics do well or what ones are they pushing on their home page.

Try to get a sense of the styles you see being promoted by the site. Then niche down to a more specific topic.

For example if you see the topic of cats as a popular topic you may want to do a more specific cat or a cat doing a certain activity. Brainstorm and sketch out ideas and create something new and original for that sub niche.”

Note: If you’re new to Print on Demand check out Juna’s video on what to do before starting Print on Demand.

Here’s a video from Juna showing you how to find print on demand niche trends for free:

Etsy

There are a few ways you can use Etsy to get design ideas:

Manually:

Manually spend some time discovering what designs are selling within that niche:

  • Start with broad search in your chosen niche
  • Look for listings that have a ‘Bestseller’ tag as these are products that will have had good sale amounts in the previous 6 months
  • You can sort my ‘top custom reviews’ too, and this will typically put listings to the top that have a lot of reviews (meaning they’ve had a lot of sales), and plenty of positive reviews as well
  • Save a bunch of the best sellers and popular listings and then look for common themes
    • E.g. styles, fonts, font combinations, phrases, graphics, layouts, etc.

Use Etsy research tools:

You can use Etsy research tools to speed up this process. They have product research tools that give you estimates on the amount of sales products are getting.

Here are some of the best tools:

Hannah Ebeling is a successful print on demand seller on Etsy, and recommends using Sale Samurai, as well as offering up some other great tips on where to get design inspiration…

Hannah Ebeling

“The formula for finding a profitable designs truly is just pinpointing niches with high-demand and low-competition.

I rely on a combination of free methods and paid research tools to find my product inspiration.

The tools Merch Informer and Sale Samurai have been invaluable for me to find bestselling niches quickly and easily, but I also like to keep an eye on social media and Google trends for emerging niches and ideas.

While the majority of my products are things I might not personally be interested in, when inspiration strikes me with something I’m passionate about or love to make, I don’t shy away from that either.”

Note: Check out this Sale Samurai tutorial from Hannah.

Here’s a video from Hannah showing you how to find profitable niches:

Merch Informer

Mech Informer is a goldmine when it comes to design research and inspiration, particularly for those of you who plan to sell on Merch By Amazon.

They have tools that help you quickly identify top selling products, trending designs and niches, get inspiration from Pinterest and Etsy, and so much more.

Google Trends

A free and easy way to get some design inspiration (and get into the heads of your potential customers) is to use Google Trends.

Not only does it allow you to look at the trends for specific topics (so you can find niches growing in popularity or know when to release seasonal-focused designs) it also gives you related topics and searches that can help inspire new design ideas.

For example, a quick search for ‘dad shirts’ brings up some related topics that could be worth pursuing:

  • fathers day shirt for dad and son
  • dad joke shirt
  • funny dad shirts from daughter
  • etc.

Google has some other tools you can use for free to get some design inspiration:

  • Google Keyword Planner – get search volume data and related search queries
  • Google alerts – create alerts for specific topics and get trending news sent to your inbox that you can use to inspire your latest designs

Social Media

Monitor social media for design ideas within your chosen niche:

  • Trending Instagram and TikTok videos can inspire you
  • Facebook groups – what are people discussing and sharing in relevant groups?
  • Twitter – what conversations are being had in our chosen niche?
  • Pinterest – search trends on Pinterest to what’s popular in your niche

Look for trending and new topics related to your chosen niche to help inspire design ideas.

Chat GPT

If you’re looking for some text-based designs for your print on demand products you can ideas from ChatGPT.

For example, you might have noticed that slogans are design-type that sell well in your chosen niche. You can ask ChatGPT for some slogan ideas in your niche, for example:

“give me 10 (your chosen niche) slogans for merch designs”

You’ll still need to ensure that anything the tool suggests is copyright free but it’s a great way to quickly get some slogan ideas. You can use Merch Informer to quickly check if a slogan is copyright protected.

Start things off on the right foot

Some things to keep in mind before you start creating designs:

  • Start your POD journey with sub-niches
  • Validate your chosen niche or sub-niche
  • Choose a high demand – low competition topic
  • Get inspired by high demand/selling products but do not copy
  • Do a combo of evergreen and seasonal designs
    • 50% evergreen designs that can sell all year round – consistent income
    • 50% on designs that are likely to sell in the next 1 – 3 months e.g. designs going into summer, Christmas, halloween, appreciation days, other holidays, etc.
  • Check for trademarks – tools like Merch Informer can help or do it manually
  • Have the right mindset, be patient – getting sales and finding out what performs best takes time and most importantly consistency. Those who stick with it have a much better chance of eventually being successful.

Print on Demand design tools and resources

Now comes the fun part – getting your print on demand designs.

Here are some of the best tools and resources for getting designs for your print on demand products:

Kittl

Kittl is a fairly new kid on the block but they’re already making waves, particularly in the print on demand space, with their easy-to-use tools and stunning design templates.

If you’re not a seasoned designer who has experience with software such as Adobe illustrator or Affinity Designer then you’ll love Kittl.

You can create complex designs in no time at all or simple but great-looking text-based designs too that are perfect for print on demand.

The tool is particularly strong when it comes to t-shirt designs and logos but they’re template library is growing rapidly so we’re sure there will be even more print on demand designs added. Watch this space.

Pricing:

  • Free account
  • Pro – $15 /month or $120 /year
  • Expert – $30 /month or $288 /year
  • Business – Custom pricing

Hannah Ebeling also recommends Kittl as a great place to find and create print on demand designs, as well as few other useful alternatives…

Hannah Ebeling

“As a print on demand seller it is important to make the biggest impact in the least amount of time possible, so I rely on a lot of tools that make designing products fast and easy.

I’ve been loving and using the design suite Kittl a lot recently because it has so many pre-made design templates that make creating new designs take literal minutes.

I also still love and use Canva. It’s so simple and a really accessible way for a lot of new print on demand sellers to get started.”

Note: If you’re thinking of using Canva, check out Hannah’s video on the best Canva fonts for Print on Demand.

Check out this video from Hannah that showcases all the awesome designs that you can create using Kittl, and just how easy it is:

Canva

No doubt you’ve heard of Canva, which is the ultimate online graphic design software. You can create an insane variety of assets with Canva and this includes print on demand designs.

It’s extremely easy to use Canva regardless of whether you’e creating simple text-based designs or more complex ones with multiple elements.

You can also do plenty for free with Canva, perfect if you’re just starting out on your print on demand journey, or if you’re on a tight budget.

A lot of people seem to be a bit confused as to what’s allowed when using Canva to create (and then sell) print on demand designs.

You should check out the Canva commercial usage page but essentially you can use any element from Canva as part of a unique design but you can simply use an element as is and then sell that as the design without any modifications.

Pricing:

  • Free plan: plenty of amazing tools and templates
  • Canva Pro monthly: $12.99
  • Canva Pro annual: $119.99

Juna recommends Kittl and Canva but has a few other design suggestions too…

Juna from Detour Shirts

“The different tools and resources that would best help you create those designs really depends on your skill level.

If you are not an artist then I would suggest you hire out a designer through Fiverr or Penji.

If you are a little more comfortable you could start with applications that have graphics in them like Canva, Kittl or Vexels.

You may be a very skilled artist or love to draw. In that case, I would suggest you draw your own graphics in your own style, which would make you stand out. You could do this with a pencil and paper and then scan it into your computer and trace over it with a vector program like Illustrator or Affinity Designer. If you prefer to draw on a tablet, like an iPad, then Procreate might be a good tool for you.”

Vexels

Vexels is another fantastic online design resource for print on demand sellers.

They have thousands of print-ready designs in a large variety of niches. If you have a paid Vexels account you can download these and either modify them or use them as they are on your POD products.

Their online t-shirt design maker is also very easy to use, and allows you to quickly and easily create great looking designs that you can sell on print on demand t-shirts (and other products too).

If you’re in need of inspiration you can check out Vexel’s recently added merch quote generator which can give you some great ideas for text-based designs.

With a paid Vexels subscription you get licensing rights to all the designs you download so there are no copyright headaches as a POD seller.

Pricing:

  • Monthly subscription: $9.99 – $89.99 /month
  • Annual subscription: $90 – $816 /year

Placeit

One of the simplest tools tools you can use to create print on demand designs is Placeit.

They have thousands of mech design templates that are very quick and easy to customize. You can also utilze their gigantic logo template library for print on demand designs too.

We cover this in more detail in this article: How to use Placeit with Printify & Printful.

Another compelling reason to use Placeit is that everything you create comes with a commercial license, so you can sell on any platform you want with no copyright issues.

Plus you can also create professional-looking mockups through their platform. They have thousands of mockup templates for a range of POD products including t-shirts, tote bags, mugs, posters, and many others.

Pricing:

  • Some free templates
  • Individual designs: $2.95
  • Monthly subscription with unlimited downloads: $14.95
  • Annual subscription with unlimited downloads: $89.95

Hire a designer

If you want to get some high-quality print on demand designs but you don’t have the time or skillset to create them yourself then you can hire people to create them for you.

Here are some great options for finding amazing designers to work with:

Create the designs yourself

If you’re creative and are a talented designer or illustrator you should consider creating your own designs for print on demand.

Here are some tools that you can use to create your own designs:

  • Adobe illustrator
  • Adobe Photoshop
  • Procreate
  • Affinity Designer
  • Photopea
  • GIMP
  • CorelDRAW
  • Inkscape

Buy premade designs

You can also simply buy pre-made designs that are print-ready.

There are some sites like Vexels that are subscription based and allow you to download unlimited designs, and some sites where you can purchase individual designs.

Here are some good options:

Free image and graphics websites

There are plenty of free images and illustration websites that you can utilize to help you create awesome designs for your print on demand products.

All you need to do is search these websites, find images, graphics, and illustrations that are copyright free, and then incorporate them into your designs.

Are you looking for the easiest and quickest way to create high-quality t-shirt mockups?

Well then, you’re in luck.

In this article, we’re going to show you how you can easily create t-shirt mockups for your online store without any experience with design software like Photoshop needed.

You can jump to a specific part of the article with the links below:

#1 Overview

If you’re using a tool like Photoshop, creating t-shirt mockups can be a bit of a pain, to say the least, especially if you’re wanting to create them at scale.

Thankfully these days there are quite a few online t-shirt mockup generators that make the whole process a breeze. At the moment, the best of the bunch is Placeit’s

So we’re going to show you how to create t-shirt mockups in no time using Placeit.

Why use t-shirt mockups?

Before we get started on the process of creating mockups, let’s quickly cover why you should bother using them in the first place:

  • Save time and money – Rather than spending a bunch of time and money on photo shoots, photographers, models, etc. online t-shirt mockups allow you to simply upload your design, click the download button, and you’re good to go.

  • Scale-up – Using online mockup tools allows you to create images of your designs on a huge range of garments so you can create tons of quality images in no time to promote your designs and products.

  • Reach a specific audience – Online mockup generators like Placeit also allow you to create t-shirt mockups with specific models and scenarios so you can easily create images that attract your target audience. For example you can choose a female model, or an image of people hiking, etc.

  • Social promotion – If you plan on promoting your products via social media you can use mockups for your ads. They work great on Facebook, Instagram, and other platforms.

What you need to get started on your t-shirt mockups

Before you can create your t-shirt mockups, you’re going to need at least one great design to add to the images. You can create good-looking mockup images but if your actual product design is bad then it’s a waste of time.

You can create t-shirt designs on Placeit or use a service like Fiverr to get some. When you have some designs (in a PNG format) you’re good to go.

Now let’s get on with creating your t-shirt mockups.

#2 Finding & choosing a template

When you navigate to the t-shirt mockup templates on Placeit (this link will take you there) you’ll see that they have thousands of templates available so you should have no problems in finding some images that have the elements you’re looking for.

If you’re looking for specific model types or themes, since Placeit has so many templates, to make your search easier you can filter the mockup templates to really drill down to what you’re looking for.

For example you can filter by gender, age, ethnicity, and themes such as beach, musician, pets, garment only, etc.

You can even select multiple tags which makes it so much quicker to find the images you’re after:

If you plan to download a lot of t-shirt mockup templates, then you might want to save some as ‘favorites’ as your browsing so you can easily access all the templates you want to download later on.

To do this you need to be at least signed into a free Placeit account. Once you have that you simply need to hover over the thumbnail of a template and click the heart icon on the top right-hand side of the image:

To access all your ‘favorites’ you simply need to hover on your username at the top right side of the screen and click on ‘My Favorites’:

#3 Customizing your template:

Now that you’ve chosen a template, it’s time to customize your template.

The customization options may differ slightly with each template but generally, on the left-hand side, you can do a few things: upload your design, add text to the image, and upload an extra image/logo if you want.

When you upload your design you will be able to crop it, resize it and place it where you want it to appear on the t-shirt:

On the right-hand side, you can choose the color of the t-shirt(s) in the image, and you can also add graphics from Placeit’s library if you want.

If you have a specific color you want to use (and the HEX code for it) you can add a custom color too.

Some of the mockup templates also give you the option of changing the background color of the image too, but this only applies to certain templates.

If you just want an image of a t-shirt with your design on it or a model wearing your design, all you will need to do is upload one design, choose the color of your product and you’ll be done.

As an example, here’s a t-shirt mockup we made with Placeit – it took us about 30 seconds:

#4 Creating t-shirt mockups at scale

If you want to see your design on lots of t-shirt mockups at the same time, and be able to download them instantly, then you’re in luck. You can now do this on Placeit!

To get this feature you will need to be a paid subscriber.

Here’s how it works. Go to Placeit’s mockup section and choose the t-shirt category:

Then in the dropdown bar select one of the sub categories (e.g. ‘Crew Neck’):

You’ll then see that you have the option to choose the product color of all the mockup images on the page, and upload your design to appear on all the mockups:

Once you upload your image and change the color you will get the option to download all the images directly from the templates page, rather than having to go into each template individually and download them one by one (what a time saver!)

For example, we uploaded our logo and changed all the product colors to black. You can see a blue arrow also appears on the bottom right of each image allows you to download it directly:

#5 Free t-shirt mockups

If you’re on a tight budget you can find some 100% free t-shirt mockup templates on Placeit.

To access them, go to the t-shirt mockup section of then in the drop-down menu on the left-hand side select ‘Free’:

There are currently a decent amount of free t-shirt mockup templates (5 pages worth at the time of writing) and we’re sure Placeit will continue to add more as time goes on.

Here are some of the free t-shirt mockup templates:

#6 Pricing

On Placeit you can either buy templates individually or get them for ‘free’ if you get a paid Placeit subscription (which offers unlimited downloads of all templates on the site).

Here are the prices for the mockup templates:

  • 100% free templates
  • Individual mockup template: $7.95
  • ‘Free’ with a Placeit subscription (Unlimited downloads):
    • Monthly plan: $14.95
    • Annual plan: $89.69

#7 Licensing

Another great thing about creating t-shirt mockups on Placeit is that with their license, anything you create on the site you can use for commercial purposes.

That means you can use them in your store and in your advertising. Here’s their human-readable summary of their license:

Check out the full details of the Placeit license here.

#8 How else you can use Placeit

If you’re trying to create and promote a successful online apparel store then Placeit has so much more to offer you than simply the ability to create great looking t-shirt mockups.

Here’s are a few other ways you could utilize Placeit:

Logos – Placeit has one of the most popular logo makers going, and this is something you could use to create an awesome logo for your online store.  You can also use their logo templates as t-shirt designs.

  • Apparel designs – if you need apparel designs for your print on demand store you can create these with Placeit too, and as mentioned their logo templates work for this purpose as well:
  • Social media templates – Placeit also has templates for all the major social platforms. With their tool you can create Instagram posts and stories, Facebook posts and banners, Pinterest pins, and even more – perfect for getting the word out there about your brand:
  • YouTube templates – If you plan to create a YouTube channel for your brand, then you can create many of the designs you’ll need for that with Placeit too, including channel banners, thumbnails, intros, and more:

#9 Alternative mockup generators

In our opinion, when it comes to easily creating images t-shirt mockups there isn’t a tool out there that offers as much as Placeit.

However, there are a few other sites that do have a good range of t-shirt mockups available so if you want to see what else is out there we recommend checking out these tools:

Or check out our best t-shirt mockup generators article for more alternatives.

Final thoughts

So, there you have it. That’s how you can easily and affordably create images of t-shirt mockups.

In our opinion, Placeit is the perfect tool for this and lets you create mockups without any effort or skill needed at all.

We hope this article helped you out. If you have any questions or comments leave them down below and we’ll get back to you there.

With attention spans getting shorter and shorter it’s never been more vital to find ways to differentiate yourself to capture your target audience’s attention.

One crucial element that can make your clothing brand stand out is your logo.

But if you have limited resources and no design skills, how can you get a great looking logo for your brand?

In this article, we’re going to show you how to easily create a logo that will help you stand out from the crowd, and won’t break the bank either.

You can jump to a specific part of the article with the links below:

#1 Overview

In recent years you either had to know how to use complicated design software or hire a designer via a site like Fiverr to create a logo for your brand.

Those are still great options but if you’re looking to create your own logo these days you now have the option of using one of the top online logo makers

Out of all the logo makers on the market, we think that Placeit is currently the best option, so we’re going to show you how to create a clothing brand logo with their tool.

Why are logos important?

Before we get into how to actually create your logo, let’s quickly cover why it’s important to create a great logo for your brand.

We already touched on how people’s attention spans are so much shorter today, and that logos are vital for catching your target audience’s attention. Here’s a few more reasons:

  • Identification – It simply shows that you’re different from your competitors, and will hopefully accrue positive associations with your target audience over time.

  • It’s expected – People expect companies to have some form of logo and branding, it’s part of how they differentiate between brands and products.

  • Brand recognition – It helps people who have interacted with you remember your brand, and hopefully encourage them to come back.

  • First impressions – You rarely get a chance to make a second impression, and a logo can go a long way in creating a memorable first experience with your brand.

  • Consistency – People want to connect with you across a whole variety of platforms, and logos help to ensure your brand is consistently represented across the board.

What to consider when creating your clothing logo

Before creating your logo, make sure to have established the following:

  • Your brand name
  • Your brand colors
  • Brand identity/ethos
  • Scalability
  • Core message

When it comes to your brand ethos this is referring to the feelin your trying to convey with your logo and your brand, for example playful, strong, modern, etc.

With scalability you’re thinking of where your logo will be used displayed. Will it look good no matter where it’s on display?

Also think of your core message – what message or concept do you want your logo to convey?

Now let’s get on with creating your logo.

#2 Finding & choosing a template

When you arrive at the logos section on Placeit, you can do one of two things – you can either enter your brand name and pick a relevant industry (e.g. Clothing Brand):

Or go straight to the logo template options by clicking ‘see all our templates’ or clicking on the relevant category in the main menu:

Whatever option you choose, you’ll end up at the same screen, with a whole bunch of template options to browse through:

Here you have the option to input your brand name (if you haven’t done so already) and also choose a graphic that will replace the graphic on all the logo template options.  We wouldn’t recommend this though as it’s better to wait to do your customizations when you pick an individual template.

There is an incredible amount of templates available on Placeit. For the clothing brand category alone there are, at the time of writing, 59 pages with clothing brand logo templates. So, you’re bound to find a few that have the look and feel you’re going for:

To make your browsing easier, you can ‘favorite’ templates you like and come back to view your saved templates later on. To do that you need to be signed in to Placeit (you can get a free account) and then simply hover over templates you like the look of, and click the heart icon on the top right corner:

Once you’ve found a template you like, click on it to go to the editor.

#3 Customizing your template:

Now comes the fun part – customizing your chosen logo template!

This is roughly how your editor will look too if you’re on a desktop, regardless of what template you choose.

You’ll have the text options on the left-hand side, the logo image preview in the center, and on the right-hand side will be the color options and the icons/graphics.

If you scroll down the page you’ll also see some suggestions for logos that have a similar style to the one you selected, and other suggested templates too:

Back to the logo customization – the text customizations are straight forward. If there are multiple lines of text you’ll have more than one text field.

You just need to enter the text you want or click on the ‘eye’ icon if you don’t want a specific text field to be visible.

You can also easily change the text font and color too.  All changes you make will be applied immediately:

The options on the right side are very simple – you can change the background color of your logo (You can select transparent too) and you can also change the color of the main graphic.

If you have a specific color you want to use and have the code for it, you can paste that into the relevant field:

If you want to look for specific graphics you can search for them. For example, we search for ‘abstract’ graphics and go these results:

You can also reposition, resize, and rotate elements of the templates by hovering over them and applying your customizations:

If you’re not happy with the changes you’ve made, you can always click the ‘reset layout’ on the top right corner to go back to the original template layout.

When you’re happy with your logo click the download button, you’ll have to either purchase the logo individually or get a Placeit subscription to complete the download process (We go into detail about the pricing in the next section).

When you download your logo template you’ll be given two versions (both 4000x4000px), one with a background and one with a transparent background:

Our final logo

Here’s the final version of the logo we made – we think it’s pretty cool:

Top tip: Create logo variations

If you plan to use your logo on a variety of platforms you’re going to want to create different variations of your logo, for example:

  • Just the main graphic
  • A dark version
  • Just the logo text
  • etc.

Creating these variations will mean you’ll have all the assets you need, just in case.

To get all these, we recommend you get a Placeit subscription which will work out much cheaper than if you bought each of the variations separately. We’ll go into details about the pricing in the next section.

As an example, here are some of the variations we mentioned:

#4 Pricing

On Placeit you can either buy templates individually or get them for ‘free’ if you get a paid Placeit subscription (which offers unlimited downloads of all templates on the site).  Here are the prices for the logo templates:

  • 100% free templates (We cover these in a section a bit further down in the article)
  • Individual logo template (plus transparent version): $39.95
  • ‘Free’ with a Placeit subscription (Unlimited downloads):
    • Monthly plan: $14.95
    • Annual plan: $89.69

As we mentioned previously, we highly recommend you create multiple variations of your logo to ensure you have all the logo assets you need.

You could potentially get a monthly subscription to Placeit for $14.95, download all the logo variations you need and then cancel your subscription if you don’t need any more than for one month. Saves you a lot of money!

However, Placeit offers so many different templates that a subscription is more than worth it, in our opinion.

#5 Licensing

Thankfully Placeit has created a page that outlines their license in a ‘human-readable’ format so everything is pretty clear.

Everything you create on Placeit is copyright free and can be used for commercial purposes. You can even sell and trademark the designs you make on Placeit!

Obviously, all this means you can use any logo you create on Placeit with no problems. Check out the full details of the Placeit license here.

#6 Free logo templates on Placeit

If you’re on a tight budget you can find some 100% free templates on Placeit.

To access them, go to the logo section of the main menu and click on ‘Freebies’:

There are currently a decent amount of free logo templates (125 at the time of writing) and we’re sure Placeit will continue to add more as time goes on.

There are some templates that would fit a clothing brand, so definitely check out what they have on offer for free and you might just find something that has the look and feel you’re after.

One thing to note is that the free templates don’t seem to have the same amount of graphics available as the premium templates. However, there is still plenty there to be able to create some incredible logos!

Here are some of the free templates:

#7 How else you can use Placeit

If you’re trying to create and promote a successful clothing brand then Placeit has so much more to offer you than simply the ability to create great looking logos.

Here’s are a few other ways you could utilize Placeit:

  • Apparel Mockups – Placeit has one of the most popular t-shirt mockup generators going, and this is something you could use to add awesome lifestyle images to your online store or use their apparel mockups to promote your products on social media:
  • Apparel designs – if you need apparel designs for your products you can create these with Placeit too, and as even their logo templates work for this purpose as well:
  • Social media templates – Placeit also has templates for all the major social platforms. With their tool you can create Instagram posts and stories, Facebook posts and banners, Pinterest pins, and even more – perfect for getting the word out there about your clothing brand:
  • YouTube templates – If you plan to create a YouTube channel for your clothing brand, then you can create many of the designs you’ll need for that with Placeit too, including channel banners, thumbnails, intros, and more:

#8 Alternative clothing brand logo makers

Placeit is an amazing tool that offers an enormous amount of incredible templates. However, there are a few good sites like Placeit.  When it comes to logo makers here are a few alternatives we recommend:

Final thoughts

So there you have it. That’s how you can easily create a quality logo (and more) for your clothing brand.

If you’re looking for an affordable option but still care about the quality of your logo, we’re positive this guide will help you create your perfect logo.

You’ve opened an online apparel store for your eCommerce brand, got some incredible apparel designs and products. You might be wondering how to get models for your clothing line?

Here are your options:

  • Use the standard mockups the print on demand companies give you
  • Hire models to showcase your products in a photoshoot
  • Create product mockups yourself with a tool like Photoshop
  • Create product mockups using an online tool such as Placeit

Many of you will think that you’ll need to find models for your clothing line and do a photo shoot. but by far the easiest and most affordable option is to use an online tool.

In this article, we’re going to take you through the process of creating incredible images of models wearing your apparel designs with Placeit.

You can jump to a specific part of the article with the links below:

#1 Why use model mockups?

Using images of models wearing your apparel designs gives potential customers a much clearer idea of how your designs look when they are being worn and this will help them envisage themselves wearing the same piece of clothing.

Not only can you use those images for your online store and product pages but also for advertising your products via other platforms such as Instagram, Facebook, and email.

These images will be much more impactful than the plain product mockups that the print-on-demand companies give you (that everyone else is using those too).

How can Placeit help?

Tools like Placeit essentially let you find models for your clothing brand without having to pay the expensive photography and model fees.

All you have to do is choose one of their mockup templates, upload your apparel design, and download your image. It couldn’t be simpler.

Plus if you’re doing print on demand you might not even have the products on-hand, so Placeit will be a great option for you.

It also means you don’t have to learn to use complicated graphic design software like Photoshop to create your own mockups, which can be a challenge and also time-consuming.

#2 Create images of models wearing your designs with Placeit

Using Placeit to find models for your apparel designs is incredibly easy. You can have a whole range of mockups made in no time. Here’s how:

Step 1 – Choose a template:

Placeit has a huge library of thousands of apparel mockups for you to browse so you’re bound to find some images that have the look you’re going for. You simply need to find a template you like and select it:

You can choose the category of mockup you need from the top menu (e.g. ‘T-Shirts’, ‘Hoodies’ or ‘Hats’):

And you can even search for specific models if you have a specific looks in mind – you can filter by gender, age, and ethnicity:

Step 2 – Customize the template:

Now it’s time to customize your image. This is as easy as step 1.

You have a few options here – you can upload an image (i.e. the design you want to see on the model) and you change the product color so it looks good with your design.

Additionally you can upload an extra design (via the ‘upload your logo’ button), add custom text to the image, and also add graphics from Placeit’s library.

However, if you just want to see a model wearing your apparel design, all you will need to do is upload one design, choose the color of your product and you’ll be done.

As an example, we uploaded our logo and changed the model’s t-shirt color to black:

Step 3 – Download your image:

All that’s left to do is download your image. Here you have a few options too. You can:

  • Buy the single mockup image for $7.95
  • Get a Placeit subscription for $14.95 per month or $89.69 per year and get unlimited downloads of the model mockups on Placeit (and all the other templates they have!). That’s a good bit cheaper than hiring models for a photoshoot.

If you need more than one image, it’s a no brainer. You can get an unlimited subscription and download as many as you need.

There are no lock-in contracts either so if you have all the templates you need you can pause or cancel your subscription.

Bonus Tip 1 – Create and download multiple mockup images in seconds:

If you want to see your apparel design on lots of images at the same time (and be able to download them instantly) then you’re in luck. You can do this on Placeit.

To get this feature you will need to be a paid subscriber.

Here’s how it works. Go to Placeit’s mockup section and choose a category e.g. ‘Apparel’:

Then in the dropdown bar select a sub-category e.g. ‘T-Shirts’:

You’ll then see that you have the option to choose the product color of all the mockup images on the page, and upload your design to appear on all the mockups:

Once you upload your image and change the color you will get the option to download all the images directly from the templates page, rather than having to go into each template individually and download them one by one (what a time saver!)

For example, we uploaded our logo and change all the product colors to black. You can see a blue arrow also appears on the bottom right of each image allows you to download it directly:

Bonus Tip 2 – Licensing:

Another great thing about creating images and designs on Placeit is that with their license, anything you create on the site you can use for commercial purposes.

That means you can use them in your store and in your advertising. Here’s their human-readable summary of their license:
